Stenolis Bates, 1864 View in CoL
Stenolis Bates, 1864: 149 View in CoL ; Thomson, 1864: 324; 1865: 355; Monné, M.A., 2005a: 127 (cat.); Monné, M.A., 2011: 40 (rev.); 2012: 74.
Type-species. Stenolis undulata Bates, 1864 View in CoL (monotypy) [= Stenocorus angulatus Fabricius, 1801 View in CoL ]. Nyssosternus Gilmour, 1963: 4 View in CoL ; Monné, M.A., 2005a: 109 (cat.); Monné, M.A., 2012: 72, syn. nov. Type-species. Nyssosternus duidaensis Gilmour, 1963 View in CoL (original designation).
Gilmour (1963: 4) stated: ‘‘This new genus ( Nyssosternus ) is closely allied to Nyssodrystes Gilmour , but differs in having the pronotum unarmed laterally, without any tubercle or spine, being simply broadly rounded’’. This is one of the main characters to recognize Stenolis from the ‘‘ Nyssodrys complex’’ ( Monné, 1985).
