Carollia perspicillata (Linnaeus 1758)

Distribution. Mexico to Peru, Bolivia, Paraguay, southeastern Brazil and Guianas, Trinidad and Tobago, and maybe Grenada. The species occurs in almost all Brazil, but the states of Rio Grande do Norte, Sergipe, and Tocantins ( Peracchi et al. 2006).

Habitat. It is a common species that inhabits a large diversity of habitats, from moist evergreen to dry deciduous forests, and savanna, roosting in caves, hollow trees, tunnels, road culverts, rock crevices, and buildings ( Cloutier & Thomas 1992; Emmons & Feer 1997; Reis et al. 2007). We captured this species in almost all habitat types sampled (14 o 30’ 25.4” S, 46 o 43’ 51.5” W in Alvorada do Norte, GO; 13°46’ 17.03” S, 46° 37’ 30.44” W in São Domingos, GO; and 12° 54’ 50.8” S, 47° 34’ 0.7” W in Paranã, TO).

Voucher specimens. Three females – CHUNB 1209, 1281, and 1282; 16 males – CHUNB 1149 , 1153 , 1154 , 1155 , 1156 , 1157 , 1171 , 1172 , 1175 , 1176 , 1194 , 1238 , 1239 , 1240 , 1256 , and 1286 .
