WITHIIDAE Chamberlin, 1931 View in CoL

Thirty-seven genera have been described in this family, but five species of pseudoscorpionids belonging to four genera were found on ten Passalidae species from two genera (Aguiar and Bürnheim 1998; Poinar et al. 1998; Martinez et al. 2020). Two species were collected from Passalus interruptus , P. interstitialis , P. punctiger and P. rhodantropoides and the largest number of hosts was found for Vuctorwithius gracilimanus (Mahnert, 1979) (6) and Cacodemonius sp. (5) ( Tables 2 View Table 2 , 4, 14).

Together, on the same host species, Pseudoscorpiones were found with Mesostigmata eight times; Astigmata (1); Trombidiformes (1); Mesostigmata and Trombidiformes (3); Astigmata and Mesostigmata (1); Mesostigmata and Oribatida (1); Mesostigmata , Oribatida and Trombidiformes (2); Astigmata , Mesostigmata and Oribatida (1); and Astigmata , Mesostigmata and Trombidiformes (1).

L Passalidae species on which only Pseudoscorpiones were collected are the following: Passalus abortivus (Percheron, 1835) , P. aff. coarctatus Percheron, 1835 , P. elfriedae Luederwaldt, 1931 , P. epiphanoides (Kuwert, 1891) , P. glaberrimus Eschsholtz, 1821 , P latifrons Percheron, 1841 , P. aff. nasutus , P. rhodacanthopoides , P. unicornis LePeletier and Serville, 1825 , P. aff. unicornis , P. variiphyllus Kuwert, 1891 , Paxillus camerani (Rosmini, 1902) , Pharochilus politus , Popilius marginatus , P. tetraphyllus (Eschscholtz, 1828) , Spasalus crenatus , S. robustus , Veturius paraensis , V. aff. platyrhinus .
