KLINCKOWSTROEMIIDAE Trägårdh, 1936

All klinckowstroemiid species are associated with Passalidae : 36 klinckowstroemiid species from four genera have been found on Passalidae , of which 26 klinckowstroemiid species were collected from 44 host species belonging to 17 genera. Ten klinckowstroemiid species were collected from undetermined Passalidae ( Turk 1951; Baker and Wharton 1952; Hyatt 1964; Butler and Hunter 1966; Chernoff and Pope 1970; Rosario and Hunter 1987, 1988; Rosario 1988; WiŚnewski and Hirschmann 1994; Villegas-Guzmán and Reyes-Castillo 2009 b; Villegas-Guzmán et al. 2009, 2011; Barrios-Torres and Villegas-Guzmán 2015; Schuster et al. 2023). Most species were collected from Odontotaenius z odiacus (8), Heliscus tropicus (Percheron, 1835) (4), Passalus punctiger (4), Oileus bifidus Zang, 1935 (3), O. rimator (Turqui, 1857) (3), and Vindex a gnoscendus (Percheron, 1841) (3), and the largest number of hosts was found for Klinckowstroemia victoriae Rosario and Hunter, 1988 (12), K. reyesi Rosario and Hunter, 1988 (8), Antennurella trouessarti Berlese, 1904 (8), K. concava Hunter and Baker, 1966 (6), K. simplesetosa Rosario and Hunter, 1988 (6), K. candidoi Rosario and Hunter, 1988 (5), K. oconnori Villegas-Guzmán, Reyes-Castillo and Perez, 2011 (5) and K. santibanezi Villegas-Guzmán, Perez and Reyes-Castillo, 2009 (5). Fourteen species were collected from only one host species. On 19 species of Passalidae , only Klinckowstroemiidae were found: Heliscus eclipticus (Turqui, 1857) , Odontotaenius yucatanus , Oileus bifidus , Passalus inops Turqui, 1857 , P. punctatissimus Eschsholtz, 1829 , P. rusticus Percheron, 1835 , Petrejoides guatemalae Reyes-Castillo-Schuster, 1983, P. recticornis (Burmeister, 1847) , P. subrecticornis (Kuwert, 1898) , Popilius eclipticus , Proculejus hirtus (Turqui, 1857) , P. nudicostis Bates, 1889 , P. sartorii Kaup, 1868 , Proculus burmeisteri Kuwert, 1891 , Publius agassizi (Kaup, 1871) , Spurius bicornis Turqui, 1857 , Verres aff. intermedius , Veturius marilucae Boucher, 1988 and Vindex sp. ( Tables 2 , 4 and 11).
