TYPE LOCALITY: China, Szechwan, Moupin .

DISTRIBUTION: Szechwan, Shensi, Kansu; perhaps Tsinghai, on E. edge of Tibetan plateau ( China).

COMMENT: Regarded by Hendey, 1980, as the only surviving species in the subfamily Agriotheriinae . Placed in family Ailuropodidae by Thenius, 1979, Z. Saugetierk., 44:286-305. Reviewed by Chorn and Hoffmann, 1978, Mamm. Species, 110:1-6.
