TYPE LOCALITY: E. North America .

DISTRIBUTION: North America from Oregon, Nevada, Utah and Colorado in the West and the U.S.A. -Canadian border in the East through Central America to N. Colombia and Venezuela.

COMMENT: Placed in genus Canis , subgenus Vulpes which includes Urocyon by Van Gelder, 1978:6. Clutton-Brock et al., 1976, 29 (3):1 17-199, retained Vulpes , including Urocyon .
