COMMENT: Van Gelder, 1978:1-10 included Alopex , Atelocynus , Cerdocyon, Pseudalopex , Lycalopex , Dusicyon , and Vulpes as subgenera. However, this arrangement is not currently employed by most mammalogists; see Corbet, 1978:161; Corbet and Hill, 1980; Hall, 1981:923; Gromov and Baranova, 1981:239.
