TYPE LOCALITY: Guyana .
DISTRIBUTION: S. Tamaulipas and Guerrero (possibly Michoacan) ( Mexico) to the Mato Grosso of Brasil.
COMMENT: Includes chapadensis, megalotus, meridensis, modestus, nocturnus and prehensilis; see Cabrera, 1958:249-252, and Hall, 1981:977-978. A revision of South American forms is in preparation by R. M. Wetzel. Central American forms were reviewed by Kortlucke, 1972, Occas. Pap. Mus. Nat. Hist. Univ. Kansas, 17:1 -36; also see Cabrera, 1958:250, and Husson, 1978:288-289.
