DISTRIBUTION: Amazon Basin in Brazil, Ecuador, and Peru.

COMMENT: Izor and de la Torre, 1978, J. Mammal., 59:92- 102, hypothesized a relationship between africana and felipei , and reopened the question of whether Grammogale is a distinct genus.
