ACROPORA HORRIDA View in CoL GROUP

Diagnosis

Colony shape within this group has a large phenotypic plasticity, ranging from open arborescent through hispidose to irregular caespitose. Radial corallites simple tubular with round calices, evenly sized; coenosteum bearing simple to moderate elaborated spinules, sometimes fused and solid ( Wallace & Wolstenholme, 1998; Wallace, 1999).

All extant species have indeterminate growth and inhabit subtidal sheltered habitats ( Wallace, 1999). The fossil record of Indonesia has representatives of six extant species and one new extinct species is described to science.
