Type material. Syntype ♀ from INDONESIA: West Java: Cibodas (06°12′S, 106°37′E; 17 m a.s.l.), 25-28 March 1904, leg. K. Kraepelin, repository ZMH (no register number), examined based on photographs .

Diagnosis. Males of C. thorelli closely resemble those of C. simplex , as both share a short embolus, but it can be separated from latter species by embolus with a smooth initial twist (vs. abrupt in C. simplex ), and embolus is as wide as long (vs. with broad proximal and narrow distal halves in C. simplex ) (cf. Deeleman-Reinhold 1993: fig. 27 with Fig. 5E ). Females closely resemble to those of C. javanum , as both share mediolaterally placed copulatory openings, but it can be separated from the latter species by transversely oriented comma-shaped rims of the copulatory openings (vs. longitudinally oriented in C. javanum ) (cf. Fig. 6B with Deeleman-Reinhold 1993: fig. 28).

Supplementary description. Female (syntype, Fig. 6A ) in alcohol. AER moderately recurved, PER slightly procurved ( Fig. 6A ). Opisthosoma pear-shaped with small dorsal scutum restricted anteriorly ( Fig. 6A ). Epigyne ( Fig. 6B ): epigyne with concave posterior margin. Copulatory openings mediolaterally placed, with transversely oriented, comma-shaped rims ( Fig. 6B ).

Remarks. Deeleman-Reinhold (1993) redescribed this species based on type and non-type material collected from Indonesia.
