Lepella Evans, 1937 View in CoL

This is a distinctive monobasic genus, the only species, L. lepeletier (Latreille) being found from Nigeria east to western Kenya and south to Angola ( Ackery et al. 1995), being found on the fringes of the main forest belt rather than in it ( Larsen 2005). It has been reported to feed on ‘grasses’ ( Van Someren 1974) and ‘grasses generally’ ( Sevastopulo 1975), although Sevastopulo (unpublished) does not seem to have reared it himself. Subsequent authors repeat this information, but we have not traced any more details.
