Diagnosis
Promalactis albilateralis is similar to P. isodora Meyrick, 1908 by the forewing having a white spot at both apex and termen, and the male genitalia having a valva of the same shape. It can be separated from the latter by the absence of the white dot near the costal two-fifths and at the lower margin of the cell of the forewing, the triangular saccus and the cornutus composed of two basally fused spines in the male genitalia. In P. isodora Meyrick , the forewing has a white dot near the costal two-fifths as well as at the lower margin of the cell; the saccus is thick digitate and the cornutus is a single spine.
Description
Adult ( Figure 1A View Figure 1 ). Wingspan 13.0 mm. Head with vertex dark brown, white laterally, frons brown, occiput dark brown. Labial palpus with basal and second segments grey on inner surface, black on outer surface; third segment black except white apically, almost same length as second. Antenna with scape white; flagellum alternately white and black on dorsal surface, dark brown on ventral surface. Thorax and tegula deep ochreous brown. Forewing deep ochreous yellow; costal margin black on basal fifth, with an irregularly shaped white spot at three-fifths extending dorsad to midwing, a small black spot placed before it and a large black diffusion placed after it on costa; dorsal margin with three white streaks edged with black scales: basal streak extending to near base of fold; mesial streak extending from about one-third to upper margin of cell at one-third, slightly arched; outer streak extending obliquely to two-thirds of cell, followed by a triangular deep ochreous brown area edged with black scales; quadrate area between two basal streaks dark ochreous brown; apex with a triangular white spot surrounded by dense black scales; termen with a small oval white spot near tornus, surrounded by dense black scales; cilia orange, except deep grey along distal part of dorsal margin. Hindwing greyish white on basal two-fifths, gradually darkening to grey distally; cilia grey. Foreleg black, tibia dorsally with a white spot at base and middle, with a tuft of short white scales at apex, tarsus with three white spots on dorsal surface; midleg with tibia and tarsus grey on ventral surface, black on dorsal surface, tibia dorsally with a white spot at base, with an oblique white streak at middle, with a tuft of long white scales at apex, tarsus with three white spots on dorsal surface; hindleg grey on ventral surface, black on dorsal surface, tarsus with four white spots on dorsal surface.
Male genitalia ( Figure 2A View Figure 2 ). Uncus broad in basal one-quarter, gradually narrowed to three-fifths, distal two-fifths slender and curved ventrad, narrowly rounded at apex. Gnathos lingulate, about same length as uncus, distal third scobinate; apex bluntly rounded, with a short acuminate process. Tegumen broad, branched from posterior three-fifths, obliquely truncated anteriorly. Valva slightly broadened from base to onequarter, distal three-quarters nearly parallel-sided to subapex, slightly narrowed and rounded apically; costa concave near middle, projected before apex. Sacculus narrow, extending to before apex of valva, distal three-quarters with dense setae. Saccus triangular, broad at base, gradually narrowed to narrowly rounded apex, about two-thirds length of uncus. Juxta short, pentagonal-shaped, sclerotized marginally except on apical margin, with a digitate basal process; process about one-third length of saccus. Aedeagus almost straight, almost same length as valva; vesica with a bifid cornutus of two basally fused spines: one about two-thirds length of the other.
