New state record: Florida: St. Lucie Co.: Ft. Capron, Andreas Bolter Collection, det. K. A. Phillips 1982, INHS Insect Collection 484068, 484069 (1♂ 1♀ INHS) .

Distribution: United States: AZ, CA ( Provancher 1886), CO, FL, KS ( Packauskas 2012), MO ( Sites et al. 2012), NM, TX, UT ( Knowlton & Taylor 1949). ( Mexico, Central America, West Indies, Colombia)

Comments: At the time of the Froeschner (1988) catalog, Tylospilus was considered to be a subgenus of Podisus ; hence Froeschner’s (1988) listing of this species in Podisus . Phillips (1983), in her unpublished dissertation, among other records, provided locality data that confirms the above records from California, Florida, Kansas, and Missouri; she also listed Arkansas, Nevada, and Oklahoma, which would constitute new state records.
