The species under consideration belongs to the genus Heterelmis on the basis of the following morphological characters: (1) subovate body with plastron mainly on ventral surface; (2) prognathous head; (3) filiform 11- segmented antennae; (4) pronotum with sublateral carinae, which extend from base to anterior margin; (5) pronotum with transverse impression in median region; (6) prosternum produced anteriorly; (7) elytral carinae on intervals 6 and 8; (8) tarsal claws simple, without teeth.
