Tribe Oncotympanini

Remarks. The genus Oncotympana Stål, 1870 has been placed in the tribe Oncotympanini (e.g., Ishihara 1961; Lee 2010), but this genus seems allied to the genus Cicada Linnaeus , the type genus of the subtribe Cicadina of the tribe Cicadini , considering the hyaline wings, the normality of the wing venation, the smallsized male opercula and the semi-opaque male abdominal sternites. Detailed phylogenetic studies are needed to confirm the correct tribal placement of Oncotympana .
