Type material. Lectotype designated herein: specimen illustrated in Andrussow (1902, pl. 1, fig. 16). Not listed by Malchevskaya (1985) but still stored in the TSNIGR Museum Saint-Petersburg. The syntype series contains two specimens.

Type locality. Belaya Rostosh' ( Kazakhstan) .

Stratigraphy. Late Pliocene/Pleistocene, Akchagylian.

Discussion. This taxon is a subjective synonym of Potamides caspius Andrussow, 1902 representing a morphotype with slightly more prominent axial sculpture on early spire whorls.

Eastern Paratethys. Akchagylian (Late Pliocene/Pleistocene): Caspian Basin: Kamyshchai River ( Goloubiatnikow 1902), Kizilyurt (Daghestan, Russia), Belaya Rostosh' (Atyrau Region, Kazakhstan) (Davidaschvili 1932; Kolesnikov 1950).
