Type material. Lectotype designated herein: Nr. 83-195/358, specimen illustrated in Andrussow (1902: pl. 1, fig. 12). Not listed by Malchevskaya (1985) but still stored in the TSNIGR Museum Saint-Petersburg. The syntype series comprises two lots of 12 (Nr. 83-195/358) and 5 specimens (Nr. 186-200/358)

Type locality. Belaya Rostosh' ( Kazakhstan) .

Stratigraphy. Late Pliocene/Pleistocene, Akchagylian.

Discussion. We consider this taxon to be a subjective synonym of Potamides caspius ( Andrussow, 1902) , representing a morphotype with prominent spiral cords and convex whorls.

Eastern Paratethys. Akchagylian (Late Pliocene/Pleistocene): Caspian Basin: Kizilyurt (Daghestan, Russia), Belaya Rostosh', Inder Lake (Atyrau Region, Kazakhstan), Naftalan, Eldari Steppe area ( Azerbaijan), well Aidin, Chandyr River ( Turkmenistan) (Davidaschvili 1932; Kolesnikov 1950; Ali-Zade 1954).
