rumanum . Cerithium . Pilide, 1878
see Tiaracerithium pictum (de Basterot, 1825)
* C [erithium]. Rumanum— Pilide 1878: 27.
Type material. We are not aware of the whereabouts of the type specimens.
Type locality. PloieȘti ( Romania) .
Stratigraphy. Late Miocene, Sarmatian (Bessarabian).
Discussion. Although Pilide (1878: 27) did not provide a description or an illustration, he made the name Cerithium rumanum available by a brief diagnosis, stating that Cerithium rumanum is intermediate between Cerithium disjunctum Sow. [= Potamides disjunctum (J. de C. Sowerby, 1832) ] and Cerithium pictum Bast. Most probably he had an elongate Tiaracerithium pictum at hand.
Eastern Paratethys. Sarmatian, Bessarabian (Late Miocene): Dacian Basin: PloieȘti ( Romania) ( Pilide 1878).
