* Cerithium Schaueri Hilber nova forma — Hilber 1882: 7, pl. 1, figs 15 [non fig. 14 = Theodisca biseriata or T. theodisca ].

Type material. Lectotype designated herein: illustrated in Hilber (1882: pl. 1, figs 15a–b). The specimen was stored in the Geological Survey, Vienna seems to have been destroyed during World War II (pers. comm. Irene Zorn, February 2022).

Type locality. Pidgirtsi ( Ukraine) .

Stratigraphy. Middle Miocene, Badenian.

Discussion. The understanding of this taxon was distorted by the fact that Hilber (1882) and ( Friedberg (1914) illustrated two specimens of which one represents a Pustulosia ( Hilber 1882, pl. 1, fig. 15; Friedberg 1914: pl. 7, fig. 19) whereas the second specimens represent a Theodisca species ( Hilber 1882, pl. 1, fig. 14; Friedberg 1914: pl. 7, fig. 18). By the designation of the lectotype, we clarify the situation and Cerithium schaueri Hilber, 1882 becomes a subjective junior synonym of Pustulosia submitralis .
