Type material. Lectotype designated herein: UMJG & P 200.158 , SL: 13.5 mm, MD: 5.3 mm, Universalmuseum Joanneum (Graz, Austria), illustrated in Hilber (1891: 242, fig. 10).

Type locality. Schildbach (Styria, Austria) .

Stratigraphy. Middle Miocene, Sarmatian (Volhynian).

Discussion. See Potamides fraterculus (Mayer, 1878) .

Distribution. Sarmatian, Volhynian (Middle Miocene): Styrian Basin: Schildbach ( Austria), Eisenstadt-Sopron Basin: Wiesen ( Austria), Sopron ( Hungary) ( Papp 1974), Pannonian Basin: Várpalota, Herend–Márkó ( Kókay 1966, Strausz 1966), Cserhát Mountains ( Boda 1959).
