nodosa . Cerithium . Simionescu & Barbu, 1940 [non Tuomey 1854].
see Tiaracerithium pictum (de Basterot, 1825)
* Cer [ithium]. mitrale var. nodosa — Simionescu & Barbu 1940: 86, pl. 1, figs 37–38.
Type material. We are not aware of the whereabouts of the type specimens.
Type locality. No type locality defined; specimens were described from Scheia ( Romania) and ChiȘinău ( Moldova) .
Stratigraphy. Late Miocene, Sarmatian (Bessarabian).
Discussion. The name Cerithium nodosa is preoccupied (e.g., Tuomey 1854: 170). As we consider Cerithium nodosa Simionescu & Barbu 1940 as subjective junior synonym of Tiaracerithium pictum (de Basterot, 1825) , no replacement name is needed.
Eastern Paratethys. Sarmatian, Bessarabian (Late Miocene): Moldavian Platform: ChiȘinău ( Moldova), Scheia ( Romania) ( Simionescu & Barbu 1940), Valea Kişevăţ, Valea Hamka ( Romania) (Hinculov in Iliescu et al. 1968).
