Type material. Lectotype designated herein: ZI RAS 62413 , Zoological Institute , Russian Academy of Science, Saint-Petersburg, Russia, SL: 17.3 mm, MD: 4.8 mm.
Type locality. Zhukovitsi ( Ukraine) .
Stratigraphy. Middle Miocene, Badenian or Sarmatian (Volhynian).
Discussion. This species was originally introduced by Eichwald (1830) as Cerithium laevigatum . This name, however, was preoccupied by de Serres (1827: 414) and consequently Eichwald (1851) proposed Cerithium nympha as replacement name.
