Revised description. Shell medium sized, moderately slender conical to weakly cyrtoconoid shell of about ten teleoconch whorls; apical angle ~35°, later decreasing to ~25°. Protoconch not preserved. Early teleoconch whorls with two prominent spiral cords with large, rounded beads. Third weaker spiral cord appears along abapical suture on third whorl, strengthening abapically and almost equal in strength on later whorls. Up to four delicate spiral threads between primary cords. Whorl profile subcylindrical; suture narrowly incised, undulating. Last whorl weakly convex, with convex, moderately constricted base bearing about four subobsoletely beaded spiral cords. Aperture subcircular-ovate; outer lip not thickened, without granules within; siphonal canal short, moderately wide, slightly deflected to the left; anal canal weakly incised. Columella excavated, smooth. Columellar callus forming broad rim, sharply delimited from base.

Synonyms. Granulolabium haeutligenense Pfister & Wegm ̧ller, 2007 is based on tectonically deformed specimens with two prominent spiral rows of beads accompanied by a weaker third row at the abapical suture. We interpret the plate-like morphology of the nodes, mentioned by Pfister & Wegm̧ller (2007) as characteristic for this species, as compressional deformation.
Discussion. Pustulosia hornensis is very close to Pustulosia submitralis ( Eichwald, 1851) and one might be inclined to synonymize both at first sight. Constant differences between them, however, are the presence of a prominent third spiral cord of beads at the abapical suture in P. hornensis , the prominent secondary spiral threads between the primaries, and its generally broader shape. In addition, they are separated by a stratigraphic gap of about 2 my. Nevertheless, both species might form a phylogenetic lineage.
Distribution. Pustulosia hornensis is endemic to the Central Paratethys Sea and is known so far only from the Eggenburgian (early Burdigalian) of the North Alpine Foreland Basin.
Central Paratethys. Eggenburgian (Early Miocene): North Alpine Foreland Basin: Häutlingen ( Switzerland) (Pfister et al. 2011); Kaltenbachgraben, Thalberggraben ( Germany) (Ĥlzl 1958); Mold, Gauderndorf ( Austria) ( Schaffer 1912).
