* Cerithium (Pithocerithium) melaniaeformis nov. sp. — Karlov 1932: 75, pl. 1, figs 22–24.
Type material. Lectotype designated herein: specimen illustrated in Karlov (1932: pl. 1, figs 22–24), SL: 11 mm, MD: 4.5 mm; National Mining University , Dnipropetrovsk ( Ukraine).
Type locality. Kerch peninsula.
Stratigraphy. Late Miocene, early Maeotian.
Discussion. Cerithium melaniaeformis represents a slender morphotype of Lampanella maeotica with prominent beads in the adapical half of the whorls, which might have been typical for mudflat environments (see discussion on L. maeotica ).
Eastern Paratethys. Early Maeotian (Late Miocene): Black Sea Lowland : Beryslav, Yagorlyts'kyi Kut peninsula (=Svobodnyi Port) (Kherson Region, Ukraine); Crimea: Kamenskoe, Kerch (Adzhimushkai, Enikale, Kapkany, Kousch-Airessi, Mount Mitridat), Nasyr; Ciscaucasia: Gums River near Yalkhoi-Mokkh (Chehnya, Russia) ( Karlov 1932; Iljina et al. 1976).
