Type material. The holotype (or the syntypes) of Handmann (1883b) was stored in the Kollegium Kalksburg in Vienna, a Catholic private school, but seems to be lost .

Type locality. Ĥlles ( Austria) .

Stratigraphy. Middle Miocene, Sarmatian (Volhynian).

Discussion. Handmann (1883b: 167) distinguished this variety from Cerithium pictum based on its more conical spire, which lacks a gradate profile. Thus, it represents only one of the many morphs of Tiaracerithium pictum . The name Cerithium lineatum is preoccupied by Lamarck (1822). As we consider Cerithium lineatum Handmann, 1883b as a subjective synonym of Tiarapirenella bicincta , no replacement name is needed.
