* Cerithium View in CoL Ĥllesense n. f.— Handmann 1883b: 168.
Type material. The holotype of Handmann (1883b) was stored in the Kollegium Kalksburg in Vienna, a Catholic private school, but seems to be lost .
Type locality. Ĥlles ( Austria) .
Stratigraphy. Middle Miocene, Sarmatian (Volhynian).
Discussion. Handmann (1883b: 167) discussed a close similarity with Cerithum spina [= Bittium spina ( Ĥrnes, 1855) ] and Cerithium scabrum [= Bittium reticulatum (da Costa, 1778)] from which his species is distinguished by its less delicate sculpture. The description suggests, that Handmann (1883b) had a specimen of Potamides fraterculus (Mayer, 1878) at hand, because Bittium does not occur in the Sarmatian of the Vienna Basin.
Central Paratethys. Sarmatian, Volhynian (Middle Miocene): Vienna Basin: Ĥlles ( Austria) ( Handmann 1883b).
