* Potamides eldaricus View in CoL nov. sp. — Kolesnikov 1950: 94, pl. 12, figs 4–5.
Type material. Holotype, PIN No 2722/32, largest specimen: SL: 29.6 mm, MD: 11.2 mm, illustrated in Kolesnikov (1950: pl. 12, fig. 5), Paleontological Institute of the Russian Academy of Sciences in Moscow.
Type locality. Eldari Steppe area ( Azerbaijan) .
Stratigraphy. Late Pliocene/Pleistocene, Akchagylian.
Discussion. Kolesnikov (1950) established this name for slender shells with weakly convex whorls and prominent beads. This morph is reminiscent of Potamides disjunctus (J. de C. Sowerby, 1832) but the huge stratigraphic gap of about 6 my makes a closer relation unlikely. Therefore, we interpret P. eldaricus to be an atavistic morph of Potamides caspius , with which it co-occurs.
Eastern Paratethys. Akchagylian (Late Pliocene/Pleistocene): Caspian Basin: Kvabebi, Nazarlebis-khevi ( Georgia) ( Dzhikiya 1977); Eldari Steppe area, Naftalan, Qazanbulaq ( Azerbaijan) ( Kolesnikov 1950; Ali-Zade 1969); Danata, Kopet Dag, Krasnovodsk peninsula, Kuk-Dzhul, Small Balkhan ( Turkmenistan) ( Ali-Zade 1967).
