Type material. Holotype, UMJG & P 200.147 , SL: 12.2 mm, MD: 5.1 mm, Universalmuseum Joanneum (Graz, Austria), illustrated in Hilber (1879a: pl. 4, figs 6a–c).
Type locality. Gamlitz ( Austria) .
Stratigraphy. Middle Miocene, Badenian.
Discussion. Cerithium biquadratum is known by a single specimen from Gamlitz, where it co-occurs with numerous shells of T. theodisca . We consider it to be an extreme morph of Theodisca theodisca ( Rolle, 1856) .
Central Paratethys. Badenian (Middle Miocene): Vienna Basin: Styrian Basin: Gamlitz, St. Florian ( Hilber 1879a); Pannonian Basin: Herend–Márkó, Hidas, Várpalota ( Hungary) ( Kókay 1966; Strausz 1966).
