Discussion. Cerithium margaritaceus var. calcarata Grateloup, 1846 (in Grateloup 1846. pl. 17 fig. 11) is treated as a subjective junior synonym of Mesohalina margaritacea ( Brocchi, 1814) by Lozouet et al. (2001a: 26).
