Discussion. Cerithium baccatum Brongniart, 1823 , is a species from the Eocene of Ronca ( Italy) (syntype MNHN. F.R64081, stored in the Muséum national d’Histoire naturelle, Paris, France), whereas the specimen described by Dubois de Montpéreux (1831: pl. 2, figs 15–17) from the Miocene of the Ukraine, represents Tiaracerithium pictum .
