Correbia rufescens columbiana Zerny, 1931b: 26 . Lectotype hereby designated, male: COLOMBIA, Rio Negro, with three labels: printed label “Ober Rio Negro, Ost Colomb., 800m, coll. Fassl” and two handwritten labels “ Correbia rufescens Rots. ” and “ Correbia rufescens colombiana Zerny ♂ type ”. One paralectotype, male, also with three labels: printed label “Villavicencio, Ost Colombia, 400m, coll. Fassl”, and two handwritten labels, “ Correbia bricenoi Rots ” and a type label.

Current combination. Correbia columbiana Zerny, 1931 stat. nov.

Condition of the types. Lectotype. Forewings rubbed, left hindwing slightly damaged. Part of the antennal pectinations damaged. Most legs missing. Paralectotype. Almost all legs missing, and wings badly rubbed.

Remarks. Correbia rufescens columbiana was described as a subspecies of C. rufescens Rothschild, 1912 from the two males mentioned above. The type specimens are conspecific, but not with the one of the syntypes of C. rufescens , examined by the first author (also a male). Zerny's error probably stemmed from his reliance on the illustration provided by Draudt (1915) for the identification of C. rufescens , which does not correspond to this species. C. rufescens had been previously illustrated (correctly) by Hampson (1915, pl. 20, fig. 26). The true concept of C. rufescens is in fact quite distinct from C. rufescens columbiana , having only two small black spots near the discal cell, and not a black transverse stripe in the discal area from margin to margin, as occurs in both specimens that Zerny had in hand.

This species seems to be allied to C. bricenoi Rothschild, 1912 ( a photograph of one of its male syntypes was examined by the first author), differing from it by the forewing pattern, with more brown scales medially and on the entire internal margin in C. columbiana .
