( Fig. 29 View FIGURES 25 – 48. 25 )

Calonotos angustipennis Zerny, 1931a: 243 . Lectotype hereby designated, male, [ BRAZIL, Pará, Santarém], Taperinha, with two labels: printed label “Unt. Amaz. Taperinha b. Santarem 1– 10.vii.’27 Zerny” and handwritten label “ Calonotos angustipennis Zerny type ♂”. Two paralectotypes, one male and one female. Male with two labels: printed label “Unt. Amaz. Taperinha b. Santarem 21–31.viii. ’27 Zerny” and type label; female with two labels: printed label “Taperinha b. Santarem G. Hagmann” with date handwritten on the underside “x.’22” and handwritten type label.

Current combination. Calonotos angustipennis Zerny, 1931 .

Condition of the types. Lectotype. Wings somewhat worn. Paralectotypes. Both in perfect condition.

Remarks. Calonotos angustipennis was described from three specimens, two males and one female, the latter from October, 1922. We found the three specimens mentioned in the original description, plus a fourth one with the typical type label with Zerny’s handwriting. Because a label is not necessarily evidence that the specimen bearing it is part of the type series (ICZN, article 72.4.7), we consider only the three specimens mentioned in the original description as part of the type series. The male from July, 1927 was chosen as the lectotype because it has the genitalia partially extroverted from the abdomen, which can aid unequivocal identification without the need for dissecting it. Cerda (2008) provided illustrations of the male genitalia for this species, which match those of the lectotype.
