Diagnosis. This species is distinguishable among the subgenus by the combination of following characters: elytra with isodiametric microsculpture ( Fig. 46 View FIGURES 35–47. 35–43 ); maxim width of head at outer margin of eyes; parascutellar pore usually absent (occasionally present on one or both sides); interval 3 with three setigerous pores; metatarsus slender, similar in both sexes ( Fig. 41 View FIGURES 35–47. 35–43 ). The size of elytral humeral tooth is variable within this species. Some individuals of P. farkaci with very large humeral tooth are similar to P. krali , but the latter species is different in the elytral parascutellar pore present and elytra with transverse microsculpture ( Fig. 47 View FIGURES 35–47. 35–43 ).

Supplementary description. BL = 10.2–10.8 mm, BW = 3.5–3.8 mm; eyes large, tempora slightly swollen behind eyes, shorter than eyes, eyL/tpL = 1.35–1.83, maxim width of head at outer margin of eyes, HW/PW = 0.64–0.69. Pronotum subquadrate, PW/PL = 1.23–1.27, PBW/PW = 0.77–0.80; anterior margin slightly narrower than posterior margin, PAW/PBW =0.86–0.89; lateral margins slightly curved near middle, hardly sinuate before posterior angles; posterior angles nearly rectangular, with faint denticle. Basal foveae with sporadic punctures and transverse wrinkles, inner and outer grooves both deep, intersulcate area depressed between them. Elytra with isodiametric microsculpture ( Fig. 46 View FIGURES 35–47. 35–43 ); parascutellar pore usually absent, occasionally present on one or both sides; humerus tooth narrow and sharp, slightly to very strongly projected out; interval 3 with three setigerous pores, the first one placed near basal fourth, adjacent to stria 3, the other two adjacent to stria 2. Male sternite VII without secondary sexual modification; metatarsus slender, similar in both sexes (mt1 length/width = 3.1–3.5, Fig. 41 View FIGURES 35–47. 35–43 ); segments 1–2 with outer-lateral ridge. Median lobe of aedeagus stout (length about 1.35 mm), apex abruptly curved ventrally at apical fourth; apical lamella short and wide, apex rounded, slightly twisted to right; right paramere very long, falcate, strongly curved near middle, apex thickened ( Figs 22–24 View FIGURES 19–24 ). Endophallus extended to ventral side of aedeagus, gonopore opened to base of aedeagus, right apical lobe (ra) spherical and sclerotized atop, left apical lobe (la) slightly swollen and in similar shape as ra; with distinct scales near gonopore ( Figs 28–29 View FIGURES 25–30 ).

Remarks. The size of elytral humeral tooth is variable within this species. For specimens from Hongshan, the humeral tooth is always small and weakly projected ( Fig. 11 View FIGURES 7–12 ). In contrast, for those specimens from Tianchi, the humeral tooth is very strongly projected out ( Fig. 10 View FIGURES 7–12 ), similar to that in P. krali but slenderer in the apex of tooth. Whereas for specimens from Shika Snow mountain and adjacent mountains, the humeral tooth is variable. But the male genitalia are almost identical ( Figs 22–24 View FIGURES 19–24 ) between specimens with small and large humeral tooth. We examined the endophallus of specimens from Hongshan and Tianchi with different size of elytral humeral tooth, and found that their endophalli are almost identical ( Figs 28–29 View FIGURES 25–30 ).

Distribution. This species is known from Zhongdian (=Shangri-La city), Dêqên Tibetan Autonomous Prefecture, Yunnan province with three localities: Hongshan (Northeast to Zhongdian township), Shika Snow Mountain (West to Zhongdian township, type locality), and Tianchi (Southwest to Zhongdian township).
