Distribution. Serrivomer schmidti was described from the eastern South Atlantic (19º16’ S, 01º48’ W), and is widespread throughout the South Atlantic ( Tighe 1989).
Remarks. Identification of the present material follows Bauchot-Boutin (1954), who separates Serrivomer schmidti from the very similar S. beani by the number of caudal-fin rays (seven for the former and five to six for the latter). USU 0 1404 was reported by Séret and Andreata (1992) as Platuronides danae .
