Sphex caementarius Drury, 1773 : index to First Volume, ♀ (as caementaria, incorrect original termination). Syntypes: “ Antigua and several other places in the West-Indies” (lost: van der Vecht & van Breugel 1968: 222).
Pulawski (2021) gives a list of the synonymy, which is not repeated here.
Diagnosis. Frons distinctly pilose; pronotal collar dorsally with yellow band, pronotum side black; scutellum, metanotum and posterior surface of propodeum with yellow markings; mesepisternum dull, distinctly rugose between punctures, yellow mark below tegula; first tergum mostly yellow, and rest of metasomal segments and petiole black; fore and mid legs yellow: coxae, trochanter, base of femora black; hind leg black: tibiae with broad yellow ring at base, hind tarsi partly yellow.
Note. As no specimens were seen during the present study, the above diagnosis has been based on published descriptions (F. Smith 1856; Bingham 1897; van der Vecht & van Breugel 1968; Schmidt–Egger 2005).
