Diagnosis
Females of T. sumatranus sp. nov. can be recognized by the elongate insemination ducts connecting to the small, trapezoidal spermathecae with no distinctive boundary ( Figure 17 View Figure 17 D).
Type material
Holotype. ♀, Indonesia: Sumatra, West Sumatra Province: old secondary forest above Harau Canyon, north of Payakumbuh , 750 m, primary forest , 7 June 2006, leg. P.J. Schwendinger ( MHNG, Sum-06 / 11) .
Paratypes. Data as holotype, 1♀, ( MHNG, Sum-06 / 11) .
Etymology
The specific is a nominative form of an adjective (Latin: sumatranus = of Sumatra), and refers to the collecting locality.
Description
Female (holotype). Total length 5.48; prosoma 2.70 long, 1.76 wide; opisthosoma 2.78 long, 1.36 wide. Leg formula: 1423; I 12.12 (2.74, 1.10, 3.76, 2.62, 1.90); II 9.44 (2.22, 1.00, 2.86, 2.06, 1.30); III 7.82 (1.90, 0.98, 2.34, 1.60, 1.00); IV 11.68 (2.86, 1.10, 3.26, 2.84, 1.62). Spination: Leg I: Femora p1-1; tibiae p9 r10; metatarsi p5 r6. Leg II: Tibiae p8 r9; metatarsi p4 r5. Carapace dark chestnut-brown; submarginal lobes triangular, slightly elevated. Sternum dark brown. Legs hairless, uniformly brown, distal portion of tibiae and metatarsi yellowish. Opisthosoma elongate-ovoid. Dorsum greenish, posteriorly with a series of pale chevrons.
Genitalia ( Figure 17 View Figure 17 C,D): Epigyne with elliptic copulatory orifices situated anteriorly. Insemination ducts elongated, tortuous, connected to apical portion of spermathecae without distinctive boundary. Secretory ampullae situated subproximally. Spermathecae trapezoidal, provided with glandular pore on its inner surface. Fertilization ducts lanceolated.
Male. Unknown.
Distribution
Known only from the type locality on the west coast of Sumatra ( Figure 18).
