Clydonium is a small Neotropical genus comprising 12 species. Nine species were described from Costa Rica (one of them also occurs in northern Venezuela), and three species are restricted to South America. Four species, including one undescribed taxon, are found to occur in Mexico.

Species of the genus are known as parasitoids of coleopterous and lepidopterous prepupae and pupae concealed in plant stems and galls ( Gauld 1991; Sääksjärvi et al. 2004).

1. Tergite 2 of metasoma with very shallow median impression anteriorly. Tergite 1 with lateromedian carinae either absent, or weak and at most reaching to the level of spiracles.
