Remarks. Like the preceeding Mimela foveola Benderitter, 1929 , M. hauseri is another species with variable male genitalia ( Fig. 13D–L View FIGURE 13 ). The variation can be geographically but the material accessible from some localities are quite underrepresented. Male genitalia of specimens collected from Jinxiu, Guangxi matches that in original description. The diagnostic features of M. hauseri are its metallic dorsal surface and narrow lateral carinae of elytra. The differences from its closest sibling Mimela admixta new species are in the differential diagnosis of the latter. Another metallic species in this subgroup is Mimela latimarginata new species, which has metallic green meso- and metathoracic surfaces as well as broad and abruptly obsolete lateral carinae (narrower and gradually obsolete in M. hauseri and M. admixta ).
This species was collected in Biaoshuiyan, Yunnan, ca. 50km southwestern to Daweishan, type locality of M. admixta new species. However, this widespread species occurs in lower altitude of under 1,800m. The record in Sichuan ( Lin 1993) is doubtful because of the subsequent separation of Chongqing. Unfortunately that no precise locality was provided by Lin. The record for “ORR” ( Zorn 2006; Zorn & Bezděk 2016) was based on material from northeastern Laos and northern Vietnam (Carsten Zorn, personal communication, 2021).
Distribution. China: Chongqing, Guangdong, Guangxi, Guizhou, Yunnan, Sichuan (?); Laos; Vietnam.
