Dorisiana amoena ( Distant, 1899) View in CoL View at ENA
Fidicina amoena Distant 1899: 112 View in CoL . (Costa Rica)
Dorisiana prob. amoena Wolda & Ramos 1992: 272 View in CoL , Table 17.1.
Remarks. The species has been reported from Panama so the “probable” identification of Wolda & Ramos (1992) is considered to be valid. It is the largest of the Panamanian Dorisiana species with body lengths greater than 30 mm and a wingspan greater than 85 mm. All other Panamanian Dorisiana species have body lengths less than 30 mm and wingspans less than 80 mm. The head and thorax are green (fading to tawny) with minimal marking and a castaneous abdomen.
Distribution. The species has been recorded from Costa Rica, Guatemala, and Panama ( Metcalf 1963a; Duffels & van der Laan 1985; Sanborn 2013; 2014). Panamanian specimens are reported from Barro Colorado Island, Panama Canal Zone, 120 m altitude in lowland forest ( Wolda & Ramos 1992) and Chiriqui ( Sueur 2000).
