Remarks. This is another small cicada with eyes projecting beyond the lateral portion of the anterior pronotum. Pacarina schumanni can be distinguished from P. puella by the piceous or fuscous marking on the medial quarter or third of the male operculum and the piceous stripe on the medial sternites of the female.

Distribution. The species has been reported previously from Belize, Costa Rica, El Salvador, Guatemala, Honduras, Mexico, and Nicaragua ( Metcalf 1963a; Sanborn 2013; 2014; Sanborn et al. 2012; Sanborn & Maes 2012; Maes et al. 2012).
