The attribution of this genus to the family Callipallenidae , as done by Child (1982) and Stock (1994), must be regarded as somewhat speculative; for example, no other callipallenid genus lacks chelifores. Indeed, Barnard (locc. cit.) and Arnaud and Bamber (1987) regarded its familial attribution as incertae sedis. There are perhaps as many grounds for placing the genus within the Ammotheidae , although the placement and conformation of the palp in the new species (see below) is not consistent for that family. The Ammotheidae is polyphyletic (as is the Callipallenidae ) and currently in a state of revision.
