Paracoccus Ezzat & McConnell View in CoL View at ENA
Paracoccus Ezzat & McConnell, 1956: 37 View in CoL . Type species: Pseudococcus burnerae Brain View in CoL by original designation.
The genus Paracoccus View in CoL is generally included in the tribe Planococcini, diagnosed by the presence of sclerotised anal lobe bars. Paracoccus View in CoL is almost certainly paraphyletic but, as presently understood, has a wide distribution in temperate and tropical regions of the world and now includes about 80 species ( Williams, 2004). Here we describe another species in this genus which is somewhat unusual in possessing enlarged dorsal setae. This suggests some similarity to Nipaecoccus Šulc View in CoL but we think it fits better into Paracoccus View in CoL .
