Female: Body fusiform, 188 long, shield 35 long, 67 wide, shield lobe present, shield design with a network of cells, with a tier of 12 cells along anterolateral shield margin, 5 cells occurring in middle, 2 cells on rear of shield; scapular tubercles present, set ahead of rear shield margin, Dt­Dt 26, setae absent; leg segment genua absent from both legs, fore tibial and fore and hind femoral setae absent; coxal area smooth; 1 st coxal tubercle and setae absent, 2 nd coxal setae (1 a) 13 long, Ct 2 ­Ct 2 9 apart, 3 rd coxal setae (2 a) 21 long, Ct 3 ­Ct 3 28 apart, Ct 2 \CT 3 19, Ct 2 ­Ct 3 12; claw ending as knob; empodium divided, 5 rayed.

Opisthosoma: arched, dorsal annuli with about 51 annuli, first 3 dorsal annuli 7 long; ventral annuli with about 68 microtuberculate annuli; lateral tubercle and setae absent, 1 st ventral setae (d) 9 long, Vt 1 ­Vt 1 45 apart; Vt 1 \Vt 2 53, Vt 1 ­Vt 2 41; 2 nd ventral setae (e) 7 long; Vt 2 ­Vt 2 25 apart, Vt 2 \Vt 3 52, Vt 2 ­Vt 3 45; 3 rd ventral setae (f) 19 long, Vt 3 ­Vt 3 28 apart; accessory setae (h 1) present.

Epigynium: 27 wide, 19 long, smooth, genital setae (3 a) 6 long, Gt­Gt 20 apart.

Male: 169 long, shield 32 long, 66 wide, Dt­Dt 20; genitalia 18 wide, 8 long, setae 6 long, Gt­Gt 18 apart.

Type data: Holotype female, NANTOU: Renai, 16 ­Apr.­ 2003, K. W.Huang; ex Trochodendron aralioides  S. et Z. ( Trochodendraceae  ). (deposited at NMNS).

Paratypes, 13 females, 3 males data same as for holotype; 2 females, TAICHUNG, Hoping, 11 ­June­ 1988; 5 females, NANTOU: Renai, 29 ­Aug.­ 1990, K. W. Huang; 6 females, NANTOU:Renai, 25 ­Jan.­ 1991, K. W. Huang; 2 females, HUALIEN:Sioulin, 29 ­ Jan.­ 1991, K. W. Huang; 2 females, TAIPEI: Yangmingshan, 22 ­Jan.­ 1998, K. W. Huang; 3 females, KAOHSIUNG: Taoyuan, 2005 ­Apr.­ 2005; 2 females, TAOYUAN: Fushing, 6 ­ June­ 2005.

Relation to host: A vagrant on the lower leaf surface. No apparent damage was observed.

Note: This new species is close to D. formosanus Huang, 2005  but differs in the presence of the scapular tubercle, and the 5 ­rayed empodium.
