Alaptus globosicornis australiensis Girault View in CoL : Lin et al. 2007: 21 (list).
Distribution. Australasian: Australia (Queensland).
Hosts. Unknown.
Comments. This variety is upgraded herein to the species rank at least until the Australasian and Oriental species of Alaptus are thoroughly revised based on well-mounted specimens; the descriptive remarks by Girault (1912) provide some color and female antennal funicle differences which, although perhaps minor, may be indicative that these Australian specimens are likely not conspecific with those A. globosicornis from North America and the Hawaiian Islands, at least. Northern Queensland has some elements of the Oriental fauna and thus this species needs to be compared with the similar taxa described later from India.
