Type species. Centrotus fairmairei Stål, 1859
Diagnosis. Pronotum with suprahumeral horns present or absent, if present with apices acute, humeral angle acute or blunt. Posterior pronotal process straight or curved, evenly tapered toward apex or blunt, ending at or based of forewing cell M 3+4 (last apical cell), with dorsal and lateral carina. Sides of scutellum exposed to various degrees. Base of forewing with opaque sclerotization, veins M and Cu fused basally then strongly divergent, veins M+Cu and R fused basally, with 1 m-cu, 2 r-m, and 1 s crossveins. Hindwing vein R branched into R 1, R 2+3, and R 4+5, vein M branched into M 1+2 and M 3+4, R 4+5 and M 1+2 veins not fused, 1 r-m and 1 s crossveins present, with wrinkles. Metathoracic trochanter with spines.
