Diagnosis. Body fusiform, gnathosoma large, prodorsal shield with frontal lobe absent, scapular tubercles ahead of rear shield margin, scapular setae absent. Both legs femoral, legs ІІ genual and tibial setae absent; tarsal empodium divided. First coxal tubercles and setae absent, 2nd and 3rd coxal tubercles and setae present. Lateral setae c2 absent, opisthosoma with dorsal median ridge and usual ventral setae.
Notes. The genus has 10 species; 5 species occur in Southeast Asia, 3 species, including the new species V. emarginata sp. nov. reported herein, are from Oriental China and 2 species from the Nearctic realm. The two known species from China, V. guangxiensis ( Kuang & Huang, 1991) and V. sargentodoxae ( Wei & Kuang, 1996) , were previously placed in the genus Rhynacus Keifer, 1951 , but re-assigned to Vimola by Hong and Zhang (1997) and Wei et al. (2009b) respectively.
