Type species: Neocatarhinus bambusae Kuang & Hong, 1990
Diagnosis. Body fusiform, gnathosoma large, prodorsal shield with frontal lobe, scapular tubercles ahead of rear shield margin, scapular setae (sc) directed inward. Legs І femoral and legs ІІ genual setae absent; tarsal empodium (ω) entire. Coxisternal plates with prosternal apodeme, all coxal and opisthosomal setae present. Opisthosoma with broad dorsal furrow.
Notes. The genus now has 3 species, N. bambusae Kuang & Hong, 1990 , N. guangxiensis Wei & Xie, 2009 (in: Wei et al. 2009b) and N. dendrocalamus sp. nov. infesting bamboo. N. bambusae and N. guangxiensis are associated with unknown species of the genus Bambusa and N. dendrocalamus sp. nov. is associated with Dendrocalamus latiflorus Munro. All the species are from south China.
