Aspicera mireiae Ros-Farré & Pujade-Villar n. sp.
( Figs 27a & b View FIGURE 27 )
Type material: (1♂). HOLOTYPE male ( CNCI) 27/VII/1959, Summit L. Mi392, 420 ’ Alaska USA, Hwy B.C., E. E. MacDougall leg.
Diagnosis. Aspicera mireiae belongs to the group of species with prominent interfoveal carina and lateral surface of pronotum lacking sharp transverse carinae. This species is the only in this group with scutellar foveae transversely carinate anteriorly and rugose posteriorly, and with occipital carina angled behind dorsal 1/3 of compound eye in lateral view.
Description
Length. Male 4 mm.; female unknown.
Coloration. Head, mesosoma, metasoma and antenna black. Coxa and trocanter black, femur and tarsi medium brown. Wing veins medium brown.
Head. Frons coriaceous and rugose. Lateral frontal carinae curved, sharply prominent basally. Area between compound eye and lateral frontal carinae with transverse carinae. Gena angled in lateral view, expanded, with a longitudinal carina, transversely carinate between this carina and external margin. Vertex not incised, punctate. Ocelli prominent. Occiput coriaceous, with short rugose longitudinal carinae behind ocelli, fine transverse carinae on basal 2/3.
Antenna. Filiform. F1 sharply excavated. Antennal formula: 6(4): 2(3): 8(3): 6(2.5): 6(2.5) 6(2.5): 6(2.5): 6(2.5): 6(2.5): 5(2.5): 5.5(2): 5.5(2): 5.5(2): 9(2).
Mesosoma. Lateral surface of pronotum coriaceous with few transverse carinae on ventral 1/2. Subpronotal plate not projected, dorsal margin with scattered setae. Scutum coriaceous. Lateral line incomplete, conspicuous. Antero-admedian lines noticeable, reaching 1/3 scutum length, parallel; median ridge very weak. Notauli and median mesoscutal furrow wide, with fine transverse carinae. Area between notauli not prominent in lateral view. Parascutal sulcus smooth, ending in front of tegula. Mesopleuron coriaceous on anterior 1/3, smooth posteriorly. Scutellum 0.82 times scutum length, clearly emarginate posterior to scutellar foveae. Scutellar foveae deep, small, with transverse carinae anteriorly, rugose posteriorly, lateral bar sharply wide, scutellar pits small, deep. Interfoveal carina sharply prominent, noticeable in lateral view, continuing along scutellar disc to end of scutellar spine. Scutellar disc coriaceous, with longitudinal sinuous carinae, sloping towards end of scutellar spine in lateral view. Scutellar spine 0.38 times length of scutellar disc, wide, coriaceous, with longitudinal carinae, slightly sloping downwards in lateral view.
Wing. Wing membrane hyaline. Radial cell 2.3 times longer than wide. Wing pubescence reduced. Marginal pubescence absent. R1 long. R2 weakly curved near margin of wing. Rs+M absent.
Derivatio nominis. Dedicated to Mireia Pujade i Ros, daughter of the authors.
