Aspicera teresae Ros-Farré n. sp.
( Figs 29a & b View FIGURE 29 )
Type material: ( 1♂). HOLOTYPE male ( CNCI) 14/VIII/1959, Vaseaux Lake , Oliver, B. C., CANADA, R. E. Leech leg.
Diagnosis. Aspicera teresae belongs to the group of species with prominent interfoveal carina, lateral surface of pronotum lacking sharp transverse carinae and occiput weakly carinate. This species can be easily recognized by the following characters: scutum coriaceous with very weak rugose carinae next median mesoscutal furrow, scutellar spine short and wide, scutellar disc sharply carinate and rugose.
Description
Length. Male 3.9 mm.; female unknown.
Coloration. Head, antennae, mesosoma and metasoma black. Leg dark to medium brown. Wing veins medium brown.
Head. Frons coriaceous, with small rugose carinae. Lateral frontal carinae curved, prominent. Area between compound eye and lateral frontal carinae with transverse carinae. Gena in lateral view rounded, expanded, rugose. Vertex not incised, coriaceous, punctate, with rugose carinae. Ocelli weakly prominent. Occiput coriaceous with very thin transverse carinae basally and short longitudinal carinae dorsally.
Antenna. Filiform. F1 sharply modified. Antennal formula: 5(3): 2(2.5): 7(2.5): 6(2): 6(2): 6(2): 5(2): 5(2): 5(2): 5(2): 5(2): 5(2): 5(2): 7.5(2)
Mesosoma. Lateral surface of pronotum coriaceous. Subpronotal plate not projected, dorsal margin pubescent. Scutum coriaceous, with very weak rugose carinae next to median mesoscutal furrow. Lateral line incomplete, conspicuous. Antero-admedian lines sharp, reaching 1/3–1/2 scutum length, parallel; median ridge narrow. Notauli posteriorly wider than median mesoscutal furrow, smooth with weak transverse carinae, median mesoscutal furrow transversely carinate. Area between notauli not prominent in lateral view. Parascutal sulcus narrow, ending in front of tegula, pubescent anteriorly. Mesopleuron with oblique carinae and coriaceous on anterior 1/3, smooth posteriorly. Scutellum 0.88 times scutum length, greatly emarginate. Scutellar foveae fairly deep, with oblique carinae anteriorly and short longitudinal carinae posteriorly, scutellar pits absent. Interfoveal carina prominent, noticeable in lateral view, continuing along scutellar disc and spine. Scutellar disc coriaceous, with longitudinal carinae, rugose, convex, slightly sloping towards basis of scutellar spine in lateral view. Scutellar spine 0.35 times length of scutellar disc, rugose, wide, straight in lateral view.
Wing. Wing membrane hyaline. Radial cell 2 times longer than wide. Wing pubescence reduced. Marginal pubescence short, present from R2. R1 long. R2 straight, little curved apically. Rs+M absent.
Derivatio nominis. Dedicated to Teresa Caminal i Ros, niece of the authors.
